Advanced Parent-Infant Practitioner Training
Who is the training suitable for?
This training is suitable for experienced practitioners who are currently working with parents and babies from conception to 2 years, and are looking to enhance their understanding of parent-infant relationships.
This training is suitable for a range of professionals, including midwives, social workers, health visitors and mental health practitioners.
Time commitment
The taught course will run on Fridays between March 2025 and June 2026 and be attended jointly with the Diploma in Psychodynamic Parent-Infant Therapy Trainees. Teaching days will be delivered via Zoom. Occasionally, there might be the possibility to meet in person at our offices in Kidlington, Oxford, but only if this is logistically possible for the group. We would not wish travel to preclude anyone for applying for this training. This includes:
- Seminars - these will run between 9.30 and 12.45. Topics will include Ghosts and Angels in Parent-Infant Work, Development of the Sense of Self, Ambivalence and Hostility, Psychoanalytical Defences, Working with Fathers, Reflective Function, Transference and Countertransference, Reflection in Action and on Action, Organisational Dynamics and Endings
- Short Courses - Attachment and Intersubjectivity; Watch, Wait and Wonder; Assessing Parent-Infant Relationships; Ghosts in the Nursery; Parent-Infant Group Work
- Work Discussion Groups
Accreditation
All OXPIP training is APPCIOS endorsed and contributes towards APPCIOS accreditation. APPCIOS (The Association for Psychodynamic Practice and Counselling in Organisational Settings), is a member organisation of the British Psychoanalytic Council.
Fees
The cost of the course is £3,950 in total for March 2025 start, plus the application fee (£50) and interview fee (£75).
By accepting an offer of a place on the training, a non-refundable deposit of £5,250 is due within 30 days. Trainees are committed to completing payment for the whole course, which is due before the course begins.
